Biography

Chief Weikert joined the Carroll Valley Police Department in June of 2001.

Chief Weikert received a commendation of gratitude for exemplary service and a job well done on March 12, 2002 from Mayor James Becraft for a vehicle stop that led to a discovery of a significant amount of marijuana.

In January and February of 2003 Carroll Valley and the Fairfield area were being plagued by a rash of evening burglaries that had Carroll Valley Police strengthening the early evening patrol. In February Weikert located, pursued, and caught a suspect in these incidents. From this initial arrest, jurisdictions in several PA counties and the State of Maryland have been able to link burglaries to the man Weikert arrested and the investigations continue. In recognition of his work on this case and on the recommendation of the Mayor and Chief of Police, Weikert was promoted to Patrolman First Class by Borough Council in March 2003. This was but one in a long string of successful investigations Weikert conducted.

In July 2007, Chief Weikert was assigned as the Department's Detective, making him responsible for the criminal investigation component of Department operations. In 2009 he was promoted to Corporal as a patrol supervisor as well as continuing his criminal investigation duties.

Chief Weikert attended Gettysburg High School where he was best known for his time on the gridiron. After high school, he attended Lycoming College in Williamsport to study Business. After two years he transferred to Randolph-Macon College in Virginia where he received his BA degree in Business Economics and a Minor in Accounting in May of 2000.

In May 2001, Weikert graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Municipal Police academy where he was the Vice-president of his class. Weikert started part-time at Gettysburg Police Department and Cumberland Township Police Department right out of the academy before coming to Carroll Valley.

Weikert is originally from Gettysburg and resides in the area with his wife, Stephanie, and his two boys.
