#2 - Home Occupations and Businesses

Home Occupations and Businesses can affect the community in various ways. They can contribute to the local economy by generating income and creating job opportunities for residents. Additionally, such businesses can foster a sense of entrepreneurship, community engagement, and innovation. Home-based enterprises may also lead to increased property values and contribute to a diverse and vibrant neighborhood.

Conversely, businesses in residential districts can elicit concerns about potential disruptions. Some reasons include increased traffic, noise, and neighborhood character changes.

Our zoning regulations aim to balance residential and commercial uses to preserve the quality of life for residents. As part of these regulations, the Borough has a permitting process for all commercial activity in Residentially Zoned Areas.  Unsure what Zoning District you live in?  Check out our Zoning Map

To apply for a permit, complete the Home Business Application. Once completed, submit it to the Zoning Officer.  The cost of the 2-year permit is $50.
