FOUNDED:                By decree of Judge John A. MacPhail in Adams County Court on September 30, 1974

 LOCATION:               Southwest of the Borough of Fairfield in Adams County mainly composed of the subdivided sections of the former Charnita Development.  (Sections not included:  AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, AG, BB, O, and Q)

SIZE:                           3,488 acres; 5.5 square miles; 21-1/2 miles of boundary; approximately 67.78 miles of roads, and 600 feet above sea level.

POPULATION:           Approximately 3,900 year-round residents.  There are presently about 1,404 dwellings, with others under new construction, and about 3,500 lot owners.

BUSINESSES/           Located in Carroll Valley is one real estate office, three restaurants, a ski area & resort,

AMENITIES:               an 18-hole golf course & resort, a municipal park with a pavilion & picnic facilities for large and small groups (call for rental information), a baseball diamond, a sand volleyball court and an outdoor basketball court.

INFORMATION:                                Driveway Regulations, Storm Water / Soil Erosion and information about sewer and building permit procedures are available at the Borough Office.  Also on view are the Official Street Map, the Zoning Map, and a map shows the location of flood plains in the Borough.  The Borough has complied with the necessary regulations to enable participation in the Federal Flood Insurance Program.
