John Van Volkenburgh

Council President

John lives in the Ranch Section with his wife Cathy of 13 years. They have three children; Ages 7,5, and 2 1/2. He is a Graduate of S.U.N.Y at Oswego with a B.S. in Business Administration. His hobbies include NASCAR, Camping, Fishing, and local travel. John attends church at St. Mary's in Fairfield, is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and has been employed by State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company for almost 10 years.

Dan Patton

Council Vice President

Mr. Patton lives on Black Bass Trail and has worked in Risk Management, for the City of Fredrick, Frederick Md. For 12 years. He has a wife, Kathy, and 3 children: Melissa (34), Dan Jr. (30) Lacey (31) and Lance (27) all married! His volunteer activities include teaching CPR/FA and the use of an AED, Serve in various capacities in a local community church. Serve on the Planning, Public Safety, and various ad hoc committees for the Borough. Previously he has Mentored youth through the Cycle across Maryland (CAM) Ride, and chaired various tennis organizations to include Captain of the Baltimore County USTA Tennis League. Dan was born in Queens New York, New York, Raised in Baltimore County Md., served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict (Airborne), 18th Airborne Corp for 3 years.

Frank Buhrman

Council Member

Frank (4 Crossland Trail) has lived in Carroll Valley since 1985. He and Sandy, his wife for 36 years, are the parents of two grown children, Joan and Randy, and have two grandchildren. Frank heads the communication and marketing department at Cross Keys Village -- The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. Appointed to Borough Council in 2007, he has served on the Planning Commission since 1990 and was its chair from 1995-2000. He and Sandy also are active in Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church. The Buhrmans are natives of Richmond, Virginia, and have lived all their lives in the mid-Atlantic states.

Bill Reinke

Council Member

Bill lives on Persimmon Trail with his wife of 6 years, Amy, and their children, Gracelyn (3) and Jackson (1). Aidan (10), Bill's son from a previous marriage lives in nearby Uniontown, MD, and is a frequent visitor. Bill was appointed to the Borough Council and Finance Committee in May 2007. Bill works in Frederick, MD as a Mortgage Planner for Amstar Mortgage Corporation and is an active member of Frederick Christian Fellowship Church. Closer to home, Bill and Amy enjoy hosting many of the Appalachian Trail "Thru-Hikers" as they enter Pennsylvania on their 2,000+ mile journey from Georgia to Maine. This unexpected hospitality is a highlight of their trip and many hikers stay in touch with the Reinke’s after their hike. Bill was born and raised in Towson, MD, just outside of Baltimore, which makes him a die-hard Orioles fan. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Biology. His hobbies include hiking, writing, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Borough Council has regularly scheduled public meetings once monthly, on the second Tuesday after the first Monday. Regular meetings begin at 7.00 pm and the public is encouraged to participate.  The schedule for 2007 is :

January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 15, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11
